I was searching for one of these in November 2005 and did a lot of shopping around. The cheapest I could find  turned out to be from a US based company called mydv. I had never heard of them and the fact there is very little information about them on the net, slightly concerned me.

Nevertheless, I placed an order with mydv and then spent 5 days trying to contact them to find out the progress of my order. When I finally got hold of a person after giving up on the telephone and emails and resorting to waiting for 45 mins for someone to arrive at their live helpdesk, I cancelled the order straight away. They also informed me that there was a chance that I would have to pay import tax getting it into the UK. Well I said it was after a cheap ipod photo 60gb, but it would have only saved me £15 maximum.

Again as with the other Apple ipods. Apple's pricing policy doesn't really enable people to get any great deals on any of their products. Therefore I would suggest rather than shopping around any further to save at most a few quid, you should buy it from the Apple Store for £299 incl shipping and get it engraved for free. You can then be confident that you are buying from a reputable company and are certain they will have it in stock.

I did some more shopping around and found a winner. They were cheaper than anyone else I could find in the UK. Came in at about £275 incl VAT and shipping. At last I had found a cheap ipod photo 60gb. Delivery was quick and I spent the saving on an itrip for the car.
